Buildings and Mountains

A few days ago I got to have lunch with a friend from college. She's finishing up some summer classes so I met her on campus and we decided to have a picnic. I've been back many times to visit friends who are still there in the last two years, but most of my time has been spent in their apartments or sitting in the stadium cheering them on as they cross the stage to graduate.

I never have to worry about falling into an Uncle Rico-style nostalgia about my college days, but it is really fun for me to walk around my old campus! The campus is basically a park with great lawns, enormous old trees, fountains, gardens, tucked away benches and swings, bridges and a lake. I've worked on college campuses in 3 other states since graduation and in my opinion, even the cutest college town can't beat having a mountain reflecting off the lake behind your dorm. Now combine that scenery with a sack lunch and an old friend and you have a perfect afternoon!

We found a picnic table under some trees near the lake and enjoyed a solid hour of good company and conversation. The only thing missing was my camera... as a student I often de-stressed by walking around campus trying to capture my favorite places and seasons. Unfortunately, my camera charger is in a box somewhere so I don't have any photos to share from that afternoon, but here are some old snaps of campus.

(just so you know I did study a little)
